At MeMark ("we", "us", or "our"), accessible via https://memark.me and the MeMark — Sovereign AI Bookmark Studio browser extension, user privacy, sovereignty, and cryptographic security are our fundamental principles.

1. Single Purpose & Overview

The single purpose of the MeMark extension is to provide a sovereign, high-speed bookmark assistant and workspace organizer. The extension enables users to capture bookmarks, organize nested folders, generate content summaries, and encrypt private credentials directly into their sovereign MeMark cloud database.

2. Data Collection and Usage

MeMark is engineered with a strict Zero Third-Party Telemetry policy. We do not sell, rent, monetize, or disclose your personal information or browsing history to data brokers or advertising networks.

• Bookmarks and Folders: Titles, URLs, folder structures, and user-provided notes are stored in your authenticated database account solely to provide bookmark management.
• AI Assistance (Strict BYOK): Content summarization and conversational copilot functionality utilize Bring-Your-Own-Key (BYOK) OpenRouter architecture. Your personal API key is stored strictly on your local browser device (`chrome.storage.local`) and is never retained on our servers.
• Encrypted Vault Data: Any credentials or confidential notes are encrypted client-side using industry-standard AES-256-GCM cryptography before transmission. We have zero knowledge of your encryption keys.

3. Browser Permissions & Justification

In accordance with Google Chrome Web Store developer policies, MeMark requests only the minimum necessary permissions required to deliver its core functionality:

• activeTab & tabs: Required solely to retrieve the URL, title, and favicon of the active webpage or open tabs when the user explicitly triggers "Bookmark Page", "Quick Save", or "Save All Tabs".
• storage: Required to persist user UI preferences, theme selection, and the local OpenRouter API key on your device.
• cookies: Used exclusively with app.memark.me to detect whether you are already signed into the web application, providing seamless instant sync without redundant credentials.
• scripting: Used on-demand to extract public article text or video subtitles for summarization and to fill saved credentials into login forms only upon explicit user button click.
• contextMenus: Used to display "Bookmark page in MeMark" and "Save quote as note" in your native browser right-click menu.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

You have full ownership of your data at all times. You can export your entire library to Obsidian, HTML, or JSON at any moment, or permanently delete folders, bookmarks, and accounts directly through the application settings.
